The first Valentine's Cards
Long time ago the Valentine's cards were all handmade and the first ones were sent in the 18th century; lovers decorated them with romantic symbols, like flowers,hearts and knots and then they were slipped under a door or tied at a door-knocker.

Also there was a guidance for people less inspired with appropriate words or images.


Then It was in Georgian Britain that the first pre-painted appeared and the oldest is dated 1797.

Victorian Valentines
Thanks to the Britain's industralisation, in the early 19th century there was a rapid advances in printing and manufacturing technologies.

However not all the Victorian Valentine's cards were romantic, because for the people that were refused by their lovers, existed the " Vinegar Valentines", cars designed to insult.
